General Discussion / Re: Graphics Team?
April 27, 2010, 09:49:46 AM
The programs you have do not matter, it is what you are capable of producing with them that is the interesting part.
Anyone can get Photoshop and Firework, not everyone are able to produce something that do not make me feel sick. If you *really* want to try to help us out, some examples of your work would help.

Besides, we don't really have the need for a graphics team. The actual SimpleDesk modification has all the stuff it needs in the LED icon set, and this site has all the graphics required to look good.

I can create different logos

I may have misunderstood the whole concept of "logo", but do we not already have one? If you ask me, there's no need for several logos. There's no use for several logos.
Variations of the default one, used in different types of promotional graphics - Sure, I already did that a little on our last wallpaper (the cracks on the logo, and the whole typography idea).

But yeah, I do not think we need any graphics team. The stuff we *need*, we have, and the cool promotional artwork we sometimes do is not enough to require a whole team (even if it's just you and me), IMO.

I'm just thinking that if you're going to offer artistic skills, that you're aware of what it is you're designing for before you start designing anyway.

This.

What about Nas? He does graphics does he not?

I sure do. I'm far from the best, but I try. People have liked the results so far, so I guess I'm not too bad. ;)

SimpleDesk Team Blog / New promotional wallpaper!
April 19, 2010, 07:02:33 AM
Hey,

It's been a while since our last blog post, not to mention since we last released a new promotional graphic.
I've been playing around in Photoshop for some time, experimenting with different ideas and techniques, and today I'd like to show to you one of the resulting wallpapers.
This is a typography style wallpaper with some grungy textures. For the SimpleDesk checkmark, I copied random parts of SimpleDesk's core code.

Here's the result. As I said, this is just one of the many ideas I've been cracking on behind the scenes. Expect more cool stuff soon!

General Discussion / Re: I want to translate.

Everyone who had expressed interest before... whenever it was we started to hand out badges, a few days ago, got a PM to verify that they were still willing to help out (just as we originally promised).
Everyone who replied with a positive answer have been added - We're still waiting for several of them.

The Translator group is also a requestable group in Profile > Group membership.

Can I ask which portal you're using here?  Looks good.

We're not using any portal. We're using a custom coded system to create our custom pages. It's based around SMF's SSI functions. For more on that subject, you should go read the SSI Readme.

Having small icons for the file types sounds like a good idea - Never thought of it my self.
And I do want to include thumbnails as soon as possible (We wanted to have them in 1.0 but it turned out to be more work than we thought).

Hi,

SimpleDesk should be installed through your Package Manager, just like any other SMF modification.
Go to Admin > Package Manager and upload the entire package, then install it.

Nailed it.

Find in SimpleDesk-TopicTicketMove.php (Lines 717-725, as well as 349-357):

$request = shd_db_query('pm_find_username', '
SELECT id_member, member_name
FROM {db_prefix}members
WHERE {int:user}
LIMIT 1',
array(
'user' => $owner,
)
);

Replace with:

$request = shd_db_query('pm_find_username', '
SELECT id_member, real_name
FROM {db_prefix}members
WHERE id_member = {int:user}
LIMIT 1',
array(
'user' => $owner,
)
);

That should fix this silly little mistake. Thanks for the report, feline.
