I wanted to affirm for myself that the deaf can end up communicating non-verbally as well as anyone else, so I asked my wife about it, who's been a RN for 25 years now, and she confirmed for me that deafness, regardless of when the onset was, is not an impediment to full communicative abilities via written word and sign.  I guess the science of it is far beyond "The Miracle Worker," which is what many of us who have little or no experience with deafness would use as a kind of measuring stick.

Smithtr, you're intriguing, no doubt!  And I commend you for your willingness to open yourself up to the world on the internet.  I'm not sure what other things stand in the way of your communication, but it's easy to assume they are substantial, and I wish you many Blessings for your trying!

DisShad, it's quite a surprise to find out that you're deaf... though of course, here across the internet, hardly anything should be a surprise any more.  :)  Here's where I could post any one of hundreds of funny pics & cartoons I've seen on the subject... but I won't!  You'll just have to imagine us all in our skivvies.  :)

I just looked over the last page of smithtr's posts on SMF.  An intriguing case... and from what little I have read, there's no figuring out what it is that's going on there.  Deaf and apparently can only use English, though English isn't the native language.  Hard to say why that could be.

One thing's for sure though Smithtr, and that is that SimpleDesk.net is for support of SimpleDesk, which has not been released to the public yet.  I suggest you keep on plugging away over at simplemachines.org.  And if possible, have someone help you to write up a synopsis of why you must use the English language when your English is so unconventional.  Something short and sweet that you can put on your forum, with a link in your signature.  People will be more open to help you if they're aware of what has brought you to an apparently rather unique situation as far as your communication needs goes.

I believe the thing that changed was not the restored reply sort order issue, that was already there.  The problem that's new is the one where the first deleted reply for a ticket shows up in the recycle bin but the subsequent deleted replies disappear.

You have a ticket, and some replies, say there are five replies.  You want to delete reply number 2, so .... the system deletes the entire reply chain, or are you talking about deleting the TICKET (with replies assuming)?

There hasn't been a problem that I'm aware of with deleting tickets.  When you delete a ticket (parent), the ticket and all of its replies (children) are sent to the recycle bin.  And when you undelete that ticket it comes back just like you'd expect, with all of its replies intact.  It looks just like it did when you sent it to the recycle bin.

The trouble has been with deleting replies from within a ticket.  Say you delete reply #2.  It shows up in the recycle bin.  But when you delete reply 3 and 4 they don't show up in the recycle bin.  Then when you restore reply #2, all three come back to the original ticket, however reply #2 now shows up at the very end of the replies on the ticket.  As if it was the last one entered.  So the entry order is lost.

I don't believe this behavior was there a week ago, because I deleted lots of replies, and they were all visible in the recycle bin.

Pfft, I've been skiving all afternoon trying to figure out the best way to fix the bug you found :P

Yeah, I figured you were either staring at the wall or up to your elbows in computer spaghetti for the past several hours.  I felt kind of bad after realizing how disappointed you were when you determined that we were going to have to cut a RC2.  If you ever make it to California, I'll have a tall Guinness waiting for you to ease the pain.  :)

So I was just about to comment about how the (pink) logo doesn't even have a reference to the year when I realized that the logo itself is the year.

Wow, I never caught that at all, but it sure is.  My eye kept seeing columns that had shattered and were tumbling down... or a saw blade.  I think they should have made the 4 different segments also resemble 4 different recognizable aspects of Britain, rather than what looks like a monument to chaos.  :)

As long as it's a better logo than the London 2012 logo which has been construed by the media as a certain famous cartoon character in a sexual position...

With all due respect to our beloved friends in England.... HOLY CARP, that's the worst logo I've ever seen!  It's just random crud.   :o  There's no flow... no .... well, no resemblance to anything from Heaven or Earth.  No historical significance, no cultural identity.  The best thing I could say about it is that if you stick an axle through the middle of it and spin it, it would probably make a decent saw blade if it were made of hard enough material.

I much prefer the 1948 London games' logo.

Twice today I've gotten several error messages pop up on the forum.  I didn't save anything the first time, which was several hours ago.  It just happened a second time.  Perhaps someone's upgrading the software under the hood?

Thanks, I don't really have a "farm"... I just like to grow veggies in my garden.  You can grow a lot of onions in not much space.  One onion every 6-8 inches down the row, and rows about 2 feet apart.  The row width is really just based on how much room you want to have to get in there for weeding.

Onions are very cheap and easy to grow.  You can buy 100 baby shoots for about $3.  Where I'm at you plant them in November and harvest around mid May... as long as you get them out of the ground before the temperature gets hot, because then the onions will get too strong.  (You may as well buy them at the store if you like them hot and strong)  If you have somewhere cool and dry to store onions they'll keep for a whole year.
