What do you guys like for copyright footers?

On a commercial forum I'm working on, I need a custom footer copyright.  I know I've tried the following at least once in the past, though I don't remember which one I liked better, nor have I even checked which are RC5 compatible.

Copyright & Footer Links | S-Ace
Global Headers Footers
Custom Copyright

Does anyone have any good or bad recommendations regarding these or any other mods that accomplish the same thing?

Honestly? If I needed a custom copyright footer, I'd hack it into the template myself to be sure it was where I wanted it and not going to screw about with anything else.

In most cases the above mods need custom theme edits anyway.

Interesting... I see there's actually two mods called "Custom Copyright."  One by hadesflames and one by Dream Portal Team.  Since the one by Dream Portal Team only supports RC2 I'll assume you're talking about the newer one by hadesflames?

Yeah... but you're the kind of guy who, if he needed a custom forum he'd write that too!   :) ;) :D ;D

Funny you should mention that...

But yeah, I generally like to have a little more control over what I do, but that's not to say I'm always like that - if there is something out there that does precisely what I want, I will use it. For one site I used to use Project Tools, because it did the job and wasn't too buggy, but needless to say I switched to SD ;)

Normally I find myself writing my own when what's on offer either doesn't meet my needs, or if it's capable but badly written. Trouble is, without being funny, the majority of mods for SMF tend not to be the best quality. I'm not blaming mod authors particularly; most of them are hobby authors, so I'm more than willing to accommodate for that, but most of the time they're not that interested in learning how to do it more cleanly, which frustrated me no end. (If I could do SimpleDesk with no theme edits at all, I would. As it is, it's down to about 3 non typical edits that almost never get modified, even by mods, which means that's one less headache.)

Allow me to say... I am SOOO glad you're on our team.  As you know, I'm still planning on using SimpleDesk for a commercial application, and I never would have considered that without being fully impressed with your programming style and skills.  I'm still nervous and anxious about the end result, but I do see that light at the end of the tunnel.  I'm saving up my pizza money so I can say thanks properly when it's done.  :)

Good luck gettin that guy to take your money... I've tried :P

In all seriousness I'm happy you have returned to help out here at SD. Seeing PT shrink so much is rather refreshing. Alll you work is greatly appreciated Gruff.

Well, I'm overseeing it in a commercial context myself, and I wouldn't be doing that myself if I weren't happy with it, but that's where some leverage for the current activity is coming from, things that over time we've identified that need to be done. I do appreciate the kind words; any craftsman appreciates knowing his work was worth the effort. :)

In other news, there are now 23 items in total outstanding for the tracker, which barring the short period of time back last January where we were spamming it with a feature list of things to be done, is the shortest it's ever been. As such, I think I can say that 1.1 is going to be one hell of a release, and possibly a little more capable than the official list of things that's in it would have indicated ;) And I should also point out that virtually every item on the tracker is a feature rather than a bug to be fixed - the only bugs are incomplete or as-yet-unimplemented features at this point rather than actual bugs.

I'm not going to give a timescale for this though, for the obvious reason - some of the things in the tracker that are incomplete or not yet started are sufficiently non trivial to resolve that I can't and won't quote on a timescale, other than 'when it's done', which should be 'soon'.

Quite welcome... It's hard not to give credit where it's due.

what to say... could just repeat what tfs said. (except that Im not yet collecting pizza money... maybe because there is no pizza money :P)
got a cookie for me?

Rus

Hehe, I'm eating left over pizza for breakfast this morning.  :)

I'm also looking forward to this and liking what I'm hearing so far about it.

There was one mod that does custom footer a while back in arantor.org but I think it's transfered to live.
"I was given the wardrobe of a nobleman, and so I played the part, a puppet ever dancing for the amusement of patrons unseen. This wretched world does not reward endeavour. It is the patron and his troupe who are receipt, maggots grown fat on endeavour's corpse. Most men but play the part they're given. Most live and die not knowing they play a part at all. But I am past all that now. I am their unwitting puppet no longer! No more! I will extract from them the price of their gluttonous feast! ~ Delita Heiral

I figured I'd just go with Spoogs' recommendation and just "Custom Copyright" by Hadesflames.  It's compatible with RC5, it seems to work without complaint, and allows me to insert HTML for color/link/BR/etc.  So far so good.
