Welcome, fmsinformatica!

We are currently developing a tool for our translators to easily translate SimpleDesk. Once SimpleDesk, and this tool, are released, we will get back to you so you can start translating the mod. :)

What is it the syntax of translated strings?

e.g. 'String to be translated' = 'translated string'; ?

Maybe i can help you developing the translators tool, because recently i've developed a translator assistant in C# for an open source bug tracking platform, i can modify the algorithm to use with simple desk :).

Regards,
Marco

The language strings in SMF are regular PHP variables:

$txt['string'] = 'My string';

However, our translation tool will pull all strings from a database and display them like a regular HTML form:

$txt['string']:         [________________________]

If you are interested in helping out you should contact our globalizer, Jerry, and/or our site manager, SleePy.

Indeed, cooperation between several translators will hopefully be possible with our translation tool, since it'll be easier to help each other using it.

MultiformeIngegno and fmsinformatica, you are both on our list of translators, so you should get a PM from us as soon as it's time to translate. :)

No. Jerry hasn't been online here for a while so we haven't heard from him about your email. What language do you wish to translate into?

Are you going to offer humorous language translations (like the Pirate language on Facebook) here?

And if not can I still put myself as a translator of such languages in my sig on here? ;)

It pretty much has to be limited to translations supported by SMF itself, and there are certain limitations around that driven by PHP that you'd have to fudge your way around.

That said... I'm not entirely averse to working on unofficial translations for SMF itself, when I last looked at it, the problem was fudging timezone and i18n details for SMF's benefit, now I know how to overcome that, it's entirely possible to create joke languages.
