Welcome to the grand launch of Simple Desk!
Simple Desk is the creation of a "mega mod" for SMF, our goal is to bring a fully functional help desk solution to all users of SMF. Using the SMF framework as a basepoint for our work, we want to show how adaptable SMF can be when used to its full potential, and demonstrate correct coding procedures and style on a large scale.
The Simple Desk team was formed from volunteers from the Simple Machines Forum project, and morphed into its own separate entity to facilitate the creation of one of the best help desk solutions available for free. Simple Desk will be able to be run as part of SMF, or independently by shutting off the forum component.
In the coming weeks you will see feature lists, proof of concept screenshots and alpha test code being featured on this site. This is one of the biggest modification projects to hit the SMF ecosystem.
bout time smf gets a good help desk mod
quotin with no response :P
Better that than simply "+1" :)
It is past overdue, time we made it happen.
Sounds interesting. Will be around to see what you will come up with. Good luck! ;)

Very nice project =]
Already it's taking shape, too, and I'm hoping before very much longer we can start publishing some screenshots of what it looks like and how it works.
Well its looking good so far, but as nas may know i expect progress. ;)
I call progress! Screenshot preview in http://www.simpledesk.net/community/index.php?topic=98.0
Proof on progress: http://www.simpledesk.net/sd/release.php :)
It seems to be a great project, features sound really promising, can't wait to see the first public release ;)
Thanks Duncan! Fixed your badge as well.
If I understand clearly it's simliar to "SMF Project Tools" but a ticket system? Am I correct?
O.o Whats "SMF Project Tools"? That sounds cool.

It's more like a helpdesk for support. Google is your friend if you want more info on what that is. :)
But yeah, it can be used like a bug tracker of sorts as well.

A bug tracker modification for SMF, made by Niko. We use it here. :)
SMF Project Tools is a bugtracker/project manager - we use it here, in fact, and more information can be found at http://www.smfproject.info/
SimpleDesk is a helpdesk; users file tickets to be resolved - such as you might have for any service provider. For example, if my VPS has a fault, I log into the host's helpdesk and file a ticket with all the details, then the staff fix it. No-one but me and the staff can see that ticket, either.
EDIT: Ninja'd by Nas
Meh, you included more information in your post than I did. So I was Ninja'd :D

I see so if a user had a problem with his account...let's say, he want to change his username which he cannot, only by the administrator so therefore the user make a ticket?

Oh! I thought it was called Project Tracker. I got confused....again. ^^;;
EDIT: The smfproject.info link isn't working for me.
Blargh, it's smfproject.net. I would advise you to look at their tracker though...
Dismal: That's it exactly. But this way it can be done without PMing, meaning that instead of PMing all the admins, you just file a ticket and those who can deal with it can deal with it, rather than waiting for one person to deal with it.

Perfect, sounds my kind of mod. Hope it can replace the "Contact" mod but will be keeping that one for guests.
Well, contact would normally be for things you just want to convey, especially feedback. A helpdesk is when you need something taken care of.

Make senses, thank you.
I am excited to see how this mod turns out. I may need to use it in the future!

Can help you support to me back up team for my website. I talk to you pm thank contact to me
Sorry, no, we don't provide support for third parties - we write a helpdesk package and will be supporting that, we can't offer more than that.
Great idea, and one that I will be using on my live forums.
How does one become a beta tester, as i do have a couple of test sites of my own.
Cheers
Deezel.
